How to prepare for a building compliance audit

The strongest preparation is not a last-minute document chase. It is a live record that already shows what applies, what was done and the evidence that proves it.

What matters

Prepare the exceptions first

A credible audit view makes overdue, unevidenced, unresolved and unscheduled duties easy to find, while retaining the evidence and outcome behind every compliant status.

01

Prepare the evidence, not the performance

Begin with a complete building and asset scope. For each duty, show applicability, cadence, responsible party, current evidence, exceptions and unresolved gaps. Do not treat an in-date certificate as proof when its outcome records a failure.

02

Make unknowns visible

Missing asset information, uncertain tenure, unclear responsibility and absent outcomes should remain unresolved states. A credible assurance view does not turn uncertainty into compliance.

03

A practical audit pack

Prepare the scope, duty register, applicability decisions, current status, evidence, outcomes, exceptions, open actions and responsible people. Make the prepared date and any limitations clear.

04

What to review first

Start with overdue, never-evidenced, unresolved and unscheduled duties. Then test a sample of compliant records back to the certificate, outcome, asset and legal basis.

05

What SAMTAP delivers

SAMTAP keeps the duty, asset, evidence and outcome together. The portfolio view reveals gaps before review day, while the immutable Golden Thread provides the chronological detail behind the status shown.
